Dayak Trophy from the Old Days of Warfare and Headhunting
Extraordinary Dayak trophy that dates from the 19th century and judging by the provenance and the carved designs I would guess it comes from Sarawak in North Borneo and was probably Iban Dayak.
The trophy is simply amazing and has all the details one would expect in an item of this quality, the fantastic and typical carved motives, the eye sockets filled with shells and resin and all the rattan bindings to hang it.
The trophy is 18 cm high, 18 cm long and 14 cm wide without the rattan.
Condition: Exceptional you can see the time present in every line and detail, not to mention the wonderful patina.
An incredible piece of Dayak tribal history from the old days of warfare and headhunting that deserves all of our respect.
