19th C. Philippine Bolo Knife

Bolo from Luzon with Brass Inlays

Nice pre-1.898 fighting bolo from Luzon coming from a Spanish military museum and brought from the Philippines during the Spanish colonial period.

I'm sure this bolo belonged to a person of certain status, very well crafted the horn handle had brass decorations and the heavy laminated blade of  high quality and elegant shape was inlayed with floral motives in brass but intended for fighting its life was hard and took its toll on it.

The bolo is 45,5 cm long, the blade is 30,5 cm long and has a thickness at the beginning of the spine of  6mm.

Condition: With evident signs of use, the handle is in worn condition, the pommel has suffered some blows and almost all of its brass decoration is lost, the blade has some pitting and rust spots and the edge has battle nicks but instead of these scares of time it is still alive, tight and with the same strong and elegant blade of the beginning.

And old but proud fighting bolo that still can tell you some stories about its life.
